The first stage of the Kuststigen-trail starts in Uddevalla, at Snäckskalsbankarna and runs through the city-center, along the Bäveån river, to finally reach the historic seaside resort of Gustavsberg.
The section begins and ends at two important historical sites for Uddevalla.
Feel free to book a visit to the museum at the 10,000-year-old seashell banks in Kuröd or enjoy the environment around Gustavsberg, Sweden's oldest seaside resort where you can find a beach, café, restaurant and hostel.
The local ferries land here in the summer time, so you can go by boat back to central Uddevalla or further out in Byfjorden.
The section follows the award-winning Strandpromenaden with its characteristic passage at Hästepallarna, where the trail runs over a wooden bridge that hovers freely over the water and that sneaks around the steep cliffs smoothly. The long wooden bridge, an interaction between wood and steel, with its spectacular suspension gives an exciting drama and also offers beautiful views of the Byfjord and Uddevalla bridge.
