The stage is under construction and inauguration will be held 2 of May. This is a three kilometer long section that takes you through rich nature landscapes and stunning views, making it an excellent choice for you who want to experience the archipelago’s nature and history up close!
The circular stage, which is a part of Göteborgs skärgårdsled and Kuststigen (The Coastal trail), starts at the ferry terminal, and you can follow the markings of Kuststigen along the entire route around the island. Along the way, you can explore sandy beaches, pebble fields, and rugged coastal environments. There are also strategically placed resting shelters and barbecue areas at scenic viewpoints, offering perfect spots for relaxing breakes.
The stage consists of a gravel surface and is relatively wide, but some sections consists of rocky terrain and hills, making parts of the hike slightly challenging. Hyppeln’s nature is rich and diverse, and if you are interested in plant life, the stage offers sightsings of Common lousewort, Dropwort, Chaffweed, Bloody cranesbill, Kidney vetch, Heath-spotted orchid and Bog aspholde.
As you hike around Hyppeln, you can also visit notable sights such as”Jättehuvudet” (The Giant’s Head), a viewpoint offering breathtaking views of Marstrand to the north and the entrance to Gothenburg’s harbour to the south. You will also find Hyppeln’s fort, an old military fort with a wooden deck - perfect for a picnic!

About Difficulty Grading
The grading is tailored for Swedish lowland trails that adhere to the quality criteria established by the national framework for hiking trails.
Even and firm ground: The terrain is generally flat. The hike requires no need to use your hands for support. No obstacles. Bridges are always present when crossing waterways.
Uneven and/or soft ground: Some changes in elevation. Certain sections may require hand support to maintain balance. There may be obstacles such as low stiles and short stairs. Minor obstacles like stones and roots. Boardwalks are present.
Loose or slippery ground combined with steep sections: Technical parts require hand support. There may be obstacles such as high stiles and longer stairs. Frequent sections with stones and/or roots. Boardwalks with deeper surrounding water.
Note: One or more of these features may be present along the trail section.
